Ulnar Nerve Glide

Nerve glides are gentle stretches to help nerves move freely through the arm. They can help to reduce pain and improve range of motion.

Tips:

  • Complete 3 times each day.
  • Move slowly and gently! Going too fast or aggressively can cause more pain or tingling.
  • With each step, the nerve is stretched more. Continue completing the steps until you feel numbness and tingling. *Stop at that step.

How to perform an ulnar nerve glide:

1. Sit or stand with your arm stretched out to the side and your palm facing the floor.

2. Slowly bend your wrist up so your fingers are pointing towards the ceiling.

3. While keeping your wrist bent, bend your elbow and bring your hand towards your shoulder. You might feel a tug or tingling in your elbow, wrist, or pinky.

4. Hold the position for 5 seconds, and then release.

5. Repeat 10 times.

It is normal to have tingling when performing the nerve glide, but this should go away quickly. If the pain or tingling continues after the exercise, stop doing the stretches and talk to your doctor or therapist.
