DRAWTEX®

Drawtex® is a hydro-conductive dressing, it helps move drainage away from the wound, keeping it moist and helping the healing process.

Note: Drawtex® should NOT be used if arterial bleeding is present.

Dressings should be changed daily but can be changed less often when drainage has slowed down but not longer than 7 days. Dressings should be kept dry in between changes

Follow the steps below to change the dressing:

  • Wash hands

  • Place all of your supplies on a clean surface.

  • Remove the old dressing, if it is sticking; wet it with clean tap water to help it loosen.

  • Clean wound with soap, water, and a washcloth. Rinse and pat dry.

  • Cut piece of Drawtex® to fit the size of the wound

    • When using a contact layer such as non-stick gauze, cut to fit wound and directly on top of non-stick gauze.)

    • When using for packing a wound, cut the Drawtex® longer than area, tuck it lightly into wound area, leaving extra piece outside of the wound for a “tail” to pull out next time the dressing is changed.

    • If there is a lot of drainage through the dressing, then apply two layers of Drawtex®.   Cut the, cut 1st piece to fit on wound bed, then cut 2nd piece of Drawtex® to sit on top of first piece of Drawtex®.

    • Cover and hold Drawtex® in place with dry gauze dressing. If there is moderate to large drainage on the wound, cover with an absorbent dressing, like an “ABD pad

    • Secure dressing with tape or rolled gauze, netting, or compression wrap.
